It’s finally spring, and while Boscobel isn’t quite in bloom just yet, this weekend we are kicking off the spring season with a lecture tour of the Gardens of Paris.

On Sunday March 26th, join The Garden History and Design Committee of the Philipstown Garden Club, in collaboration with Boscobel House and Gardens, for a spring lecture entitled, “Let Them Eat Cake: The Gardens of Paris.”

CeCe Haydock, landscape architect and garden historian, will guide guests through the manicured gardens of the City of Lights, all from our home along the Hudson. Paris is world-renowned for its beauty and architecture, but its gardens are a huge part of what make the city so memorable. A style epitomized by Marie Antoinette in the Gardens of Versailles, the French landscape philosophy of careful planning and manicured symmetry is a tradition well-rooted in French history that dates back to the Renaissance period.

“In Paris, a park is almost never a mere plot of grass, reserved for leisure, and a garden is rarely a random selection of flowers and plants. Parisians pride themselves on making their city parks and gardens places of elegance.” - CeCe Haydock
